HEAT General Assembly in Dublin: Driving Innovation in Hybrid Extended Reality

Earlier this week, the HEAT consortium gathered in Dublin for its latest General Assembly, kindly hosted by Dublin City University (DCU). Over two packed days, partners from across Europe came together to reflect on progress, strengthen collaboration, and plan the next stages of this ambitious Horizon Europe project.

The meeting was a key moment to align on work across the project’s core technical and strategic areas, including:

  • Project coordination and overall progress
  • Advancements in system architecture and technical integration
  • Updates from the content creation, pilots and evaluation
  • Requirements, scenarios, Quality of Experience (QoE) modelling
  • Scientific and technical alignment across work packages

As part of our ongoing commitment to impact, two dedicated workshops were held to focus on exploitation and innovation strategy, and served as a strong reminder that innovation in immersive technology must be not only visionary, but also actionable and sustainable:

  1. Value proposition development for identifying the real-world problems HEAT is solving and how the technology can deliver value.
  2. From architecture to key exploitable results and scientific innovation for mapping the path from core system components to meaningful outcomes.

Special thanks to our hosts at DCU for their warm welcome and excellent organization. And a big thank you to all HEAT partners for the openness, collaboration, and expertise you brought to every discussion.

As we move forward, the HEAT project remains focused on developing new possibilities for immersive social hybrid experiences through technologies such as holography, multi-sensory interaction, and extended reality.
