HEAT-XR is pleased to support the upcoming workshop “Immersive Music Technologies: AI & the Musical Metaverse”, taking place on Friday, 19 June 2026, at Sala Porrino, Conservatorio Pierluigi da Palestrina, Cagliari. Jointly organised by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of Cagliari and the Conservatorio Statale di Musica Pierluigi da Palestrina, the workshop forms part of the research and dissemination activities of the EU Horizon Europe projects HEAT and MusMet.
A key highlight of the programme is the IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Speaker Seminar by Luca Turchet, Associate Professor at the University of Trento and coordinator of the Musical Metaverse Made in Europe project. His keynote, “From the Internet of Musical Things to the Musical Metaverse: Enabling Technologies and Open Challenges,” will introduce the Internet of Musical Things and discuss how connected, intelligent, and immersive technologies can enable new forms of musical interaction for both performers and audiences.
The programme also includes AFAM PhD research presentations from the Conservatorio di Cagliari, covering topics such as retro sound chips in contemporary intermedia performance, AI-assisted intermedial composition, and analog electronic sound through AI-based timbre transfer. These contributions reflect the growing intersection between artistic research, sound technology, artificial intelligence, and immersive media. In addition, the workshop will conclude with the HEAT XRBlues Pilot Showcase, presenting immersive multisensory XR experiences for music performance and audience interaction within the HEAT project.
The programme will bring together researchers, musicians, composers, and technology experts to explore how artificial intelligence, extended reality, networked musical systems, and multisensory interaction are shaping the future of musical creation, performance, and audience experience.
Admission is free and open to all. Register your interest here to attend the event.
