HEAT at ACM IMX and ISIM 2026: A Successful Week for Hybrid XR Research

By June 17, 2026No Comments

HEAT has concluded its participation in ACM IMX 2026 and the co-located ISIM Workshop, held in Athlone, Ireland, from 9–11 June 2026.

Over three days, the HEAT consortium joined researchers, practitioners and industry representatives from the immersive media community to present new work and discuss the future of interactive experiences.

HEAT contributed 15 papers across the main IMX conference and the ISIM Workshop. The work covered areas including multisensory experience design, multimodal interaction, volumetric capture, quality of experience, accessibility, and evaluation methods for hybrid XR adoption.

The ISIM Workshop was a key part of the week, with focused discussions on immersive storytelling, AI-supported content creation, interaction, and meaningful XR design. These themes closely reflect HEAT’s aim to develop hybrid XR technologies that are technically advanced, engaging, and valuable for real users.

HEAT thanks the IMX and ISIM organisers, all contributors, and everyone who took part in the discussions in Athlone. The consortium looks forward to building on the ideas, feedback, and connections developed during the event.
